Adrienne Barnes, President and Founder worked with the Baltimore City Department of Transportation as Chief of Communication from October 2001 until July 2018. Adrienne developed and organized the newly Public Information unit after the Department separated from the Department of Public Works and became its own agency. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Barnes served as Chief, of Community Relations for the Department of Public Works. Ms. Barnes was responsible for the creation of the slogan and the logo as well as establishing the website content for the Department of Transportation. She produced information and material for five Divisions under the Department and handled all public information, media inquiries and the coordination of information services to the community.


Adrienne has been a member of the Conference of Transportation Officials (COMTO) since 2005. She became 2nd Vice President in 2006 and the next two years was elected President where she served from 2008 until 2012 serving two terms. Under her leadership, the Chapter established the Annual COMTO Leadership Luncheon which helped increase the Chapter financial standing by 80%. Today, the Chapter continues to host the annual luncheons which has bought both Private and Public Sector together. Im addition to serving as President, Adrienne was also selected to serve on the COMTO National Industry Awards Committee. After three years on the committee, Adrienne was recommended and selected to serve as Chairperson of the Industry Awards Committee, were she continues to serve in this capacity. Ms. Barnes is also a member of the Women in Transportation Seminar (WTS) where she was honored with the award of “Woman of the Year” in 2012 by her peers in Transportation. She continues to be an active member.

Adrienne hold a Bachelor Degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland and a Masters Degree in Legal and Ethical Studies from the University of Baltimore. She is active and regularly speaks at various local schools to young people about career opportunities. Ms. Barnes serves on a number of committees and will gladly provide services where needed.
